Francis in the morning

2016, 3 pieces series, each 60 x 85 cm, double-sided direct printing on acrylic glass

The triptych „Francis in the morning“ is another of Julia‘s abstractions of the everyday. The dream landscapes arose from the blankets in her bedroom. The individual layers/mountain ridges were offset by jumping up and down on the bed between shots. She overlays two transparent photographs per image, resulting in gentle unrest or movement in the final composition.
The title „Francis in the morning“ references Francis Bacon, a British painter known for working with deformations of the human body and face. At the same time, Francis is both a woman‘s and a man‘s name, thus underlines the piece‘s certain intimate vagueness.“ ( Alena Drahokoupilova)
